Dawlish Warren Beach
Blue Flag beach, ten minutes on foot. A mile and a half of golden sand with the Exe Estuary on one side and the sea on the other. Safe for swimming and paddling, with gentle surf and seasonal lifeguards. Two dog-friendly zones all year round.
Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve
Through the dunes beyond the beach - 500 acres of sand dunes, grassland and mudflats that shelter over 600 plant species and 23,000 wildfowl and wading birds. A visitor centre, guided walks and bird hides. One of Devon’s best nature spots and it’s a ten-minute walk.
Dawlish Warren Amusements & Seaside
Right at the beach entrance - arcades, crazy golf, fish and chips, ice cream and the full seaside experience. Go-karts and bumper boats for families. If you want the traditional British seaside, it’s all here.
South West Coast Path
Pick it up within ten minutes. Head south towards Teignmouth for dramatic red sandstone cliffs and sea views, or north toward the estuary. Some of the best walking in Devon, from the gate.
Bus Stop

Right outside the gate. Regular services into Dawlish town centre, Teignmouth and Torquay. You can leave the car on the pitch for a day and still get anywhere you need.

Train Station
Around ten minutes on foot. Direct services to Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Exeter and along the coast toward Paignton and Torquay. One of the most scenic railway lines in England, running right along the cliff edge.
Forest Fungi Farm Shop
Next door. Breakfast and brunch from 9am to 2pm, afternoon menu with cream teas, salads and a fresh deli counter from 2pm to 6pm. Booking recommended for breakfast.
Cockwood Harbour

A thirty-minute walk or a short drive. Two harbourside pubs, the Anchor Inn and the Ship Inn, serving fresh seafood with views across the water. Worth an evening.

Devon and beyond
Powderham Castle
Around four miles. Home to the Courtenay family, Earls of Devon, for 700 years. Grounds, deer park, guided tours, a secret garden with alpacas and ponies, and a Belvedere Tower with panoramic views. Dogs welcome in the grounds. Open most days.
The Exe Estuary
Just a mile away. Popular with birdwatchers, kayakers and cyclists. The Exe Estuary Trail runs 26 miles from Exmouth to Exeter, the section near the park is flat, scenic and suitable for all abilities. Ferry from Starcross to Exmouth in summer.
Dawlish Town
1.5 miles. Famous for the black swans on the brook through the town centre. Shops, cafes, the seafront, and the remarkable Brunel railway line running along the cliff edge. The Dawlish Airshow and Carnival Week take place here in August.
Exmouth
Reachable by train or by the seasonal ferry from Starcross. Sandy beach, watersports and the start of the Jurassic Coast. Good for a full day.
Teignmouth & Shaldon
Around seven miles. Two towns connected by a ferry across the river mouth. Grand Pier, harbour, beach and golf. The ferry crossing itself is one of those small Devon pleasures.
Torquay & the English Riviera
Around ten miles. Harbour, aquarium, Agatha Christie connections and the full English Riviera experience. From Paignton, catch the Dartmouth Steam Railway through some of Devon’s most beautiful countryside.
Exeter
13 miles. Cathedral, independent shops, the medieval quayside and good transport links. A half-day out by train is easy from the station ten minutes away.
Dartmoor National Park
Around 30 minutes by car. Wild moorland, ancient tors, river valleys and villages. A complete contrast to the coast, worth at least one day if the weather’s in your favour.
